This is my testimony: a former transgender atheist turned to Christ. Song: "Red Sky" by Thrice. I DO NOT OWN THIS MATERIAL. 1) Hi. 2) My name is John. 3) I grew up in the Church. 4) I thought I was saved. I thought I knew Jesus. 5) But I was angry. Rude. Self-absorbed. 6) Hollow. 7) A troubled jerk. 8) My earliest memories are desiring to be female. 9) Wanting to be like the girls at school. 10) Praying at night that I would wake up a girl. 11) I was transgendered. 12) But I didn’t tell anyone my desires. 13) As I got older I became bitter. Church hypocrisies weighed me down. 14) My own issues were eating away at me. 15) God didn’t make since anymore. 16) I declared myself an atheist and walked away. 17 ) For 12 years I fought my transgender desires. 18) It was urge and purge, urge and purge, urge and purge. 19) I was suicidal. 20) I was broken. 21) But I began to see there was something more out there. 22) I became agnostic but couldn’t reconcile God w/ my need to be female. 23) Eventually I decided to go full time as a woman. 24) I justified the decision with Jesus’ second covenant. 25) The next day everything changed. 26) I told God I knew His plans for me. (to be a transgendered woman) 27) I went to buy a new all female wardrobe. 28) And instead found myself drawn into a Christian bookstore. 29) I felt God for the first time in my life in there. 30) The Holy Spirit PENETRATED me. 31) I knew with absolute certainty I was in the presence of God. 32) I picked up a bible; opened it randomly. The words locked into my life. 33) Job 38:1-3 34) “And God answered Job from the whirl wind: who is this that questions me by darkened council? Dress for action like a man. I will ask you the questions and you will answer me.” 35) I knew right then God is as real as you and me. 36) And I realized how little I truly understood. 37) But I was saved by the Grace of God. 38) He commanded me to step away from my transgender life. 39) That was 8 years ago 40) I haven’t dressed since 41) Though transgender thoughts still occasionally come… 42) The desire to be a woman isn’t there anymore. 43) It’s taken a looooonnnngggggg time… 44) Satan doesn’t like to give up. 45) But neither does God. 46) Through trust in His persistent love 47) The war zone that was inside me… 48) Is now just an occasional skirmish. 49) It gets easier with time. 50) When I was truly saved, He sustained me. 51) Jesus kept taking me back to His temptation in the wilderness. 52) He’s made me stronger by His love and power. 53) He remains true and I trust in Him alone. 54) This is my testimony… 55) God bless.
